Start button for 'Personal Meeting Room' in Zoom 5.2.0 (42619.0804)

August 4, 2020 saw zoom unveiling update version 52.0 (42619.0804) and on their official website mentioned that this meant to resolve a number of issues;

Resolved Issues

  • Fixes an issue where the incorrect date was showing when scheduling new meetings for a subset of users
  • Fixes an issue where users received multiple notifications simultaneously of audio changes
  • Fixes an issue where Zoom windows were shared when the user checked the option Optimize Share for Full Screen Video Clip
  • Minor bug fixes

However you may have realized that with this version, the start button required to start meeting for “My Personal Meeting” in the client application is now missing making it hard to start or host meetings in the “My Personal Meeting Room”. Scheduled meetings are not affected. We hope that the next update will resolve the issue, however, for now keep reading to find out the workaround.

You are not able to start that meeting because you are missing the start button, however, you can find it if you use the web browser and go to the zoom website. Therefore, follow the steps below;

  • Head on to the zoom website
  • Sign in to your zoom account using your host credentials usually an Email address and Password
  • After signing in, touch or click on <meetings> under <profile> from your top left corner.
  • After selecting <meetings> on your left, you should be able to see the <Start Meeting> button on your hand across the page or right at the bottom of the page. Touch or click the “Start Meeting” button and a background process will kickstart and run the zoom application. Click “Open” to complete the process.

If the zoom application is not yet installed, you will be prompted to download and install it before you proceed.

Hope the above workaround will prove to be useful as we wait for Zoom to resolve the issue.
